Amethyst Blackberry Berliner Weisse – the latest release in the Urban Farmhouse series

4.2% ABV BLACKBERRY BERLINER WEISSE

Description

A soft, yoghurty Berliner Weisse, infused with a big hit of blackberry, a touch of cinnamon, vanilla and an underlying dry lactic sourness. A fruity twist on a classic German Berliner Weisse.

Typically a low alcohol, tart sour wheat beer we decided to give this beer a little more oomph…at 4.2% Amethyst sits a little higher in the alcohol content than your typical Berliner Weisse. What a GEM this beer is! Think summer flavours & that first beer of the day feeling.

No we didn’t smoke the blackberries nor did we coat them in honeycomb and mash them up with peppermint…we simply used 100% (360kg to be exact) of fresh blackberry puree and a pinch of cinnamon combined with the Redchurch knowledge to brew this fantastic smooth easy going beer that is designed to be picked up over and over again.

About Urban Farmhouse

Urban Farm House has always part of Redchurch brand. Its reputation has seen it at the forefront of experimental beers. Over the years there have been many different variations on sours, fruit beers, porters, IPAs all produced by our brewers striving to create something that really stands out from the crowd… and stand out they did….with great success.

Redchurch has developed into making great beers, classic flavours, brewed the right way! Following the recent success of ETNA (Blood Orange Gose) & The Sky Is Red In Berlin (Raspberry Berliner Weisse) we took a classic German beer style which we absolutely love here at Redchurch to give you this spectacular Blackberry Berliner Weisse – “Amethyst”.

Tasting Notes

Blackberry tart, light-bodied but heavier than a typical Berliner. Sourness from the fruit and with cinnamon notes. Blackcurrant yoghurt tart at the forefront. Tiny hints of vanilla. Smooth, drinkable, refreshing.

Very fresh and fruity

This is a lovely light fruity beer. At first I thought the taste was a little thin, but having left it to condition in the bottle a while longer, it is developing a nice depth. Would highly recommend.

This beer demands attention. The style is unusual for most UK beer drinkers (probably), but very refreshing and memorable. Not sure with food - maybe just fresh berries ? I will be going back for more...

Was ok, different and refreshing. Not sure if I would rush to get more though .... many more Redchurch beers I prefer! But still good.
